    Streszczenie angielskie: The examination concerns evaluation of refraction in the group of 1000 children aged 7-18 representing urban and rural environments, who where diagnosed and treated at an eye outpatient clinic. Lowered visual acuity (61,5 p.c.) was the main problem of the patients. Comparative studies of the percentage of refractive errors between the urban and rural children, including the differences between girls and boys and age groups were carried out. Hypermetropia was the most frequent refractive error of the observed population, whereas myopia was observed mainly among urban children, especially girls.
