    Streszczenie polskie: Opisano 2 przypadski leczenia przewlekłego bólu w praktyce lekarza pierwszego kontaktu.

    Streszczenie angielskie: The author described 2 cases of the treatment of chronic pain which he managed in his practice as the first contact physician. The first case concerned a male with non-operative cancer of the bladder with metastasis to the liver. Subsequent attempts as selecting the proper effective drug were presented until a good analgesic effect was obtained. The second case concerned a patient with hip joint prosthesis implanted 8 years earlier. Difficulties in the selection of proper treatment were presented due to the lack of patient's co-operation (wilful discontinuation of the recommended drugs or change in dosage). In analysing the whole complexity of the problems encountered by a primary heakth care physician while providing assistance to patients suffering chronic pain, the author emphasizes the role and importance of the Outpatient Department for Treatment of Pain.
