    Streszczenie angielskie: The purpose of the study was assessment of the masticatory organ state in elderly (partially or total) edentulous patients. Oral functions and dysfunctions, occlusion, mastocatory ability and the prosthetic treatment and constructions were evaluated. Surveyed patients consistes of 2 groups. Group (0) - with osteoporosis, low bone mineral density values IBMD and pronounced resorption of the residual ridges compared to group (P) of age matched patients with moderate ridges resorptin and bone mineral density (BMD) within age-norm. Clinical, radiological examinations and questinnaires were completed and the state, functions and dysfunctions of the masticatory system had beck bxamined before and after prosthetic treatment. The survey revealed that inproper occlusion dysfunctions of TMJ and indequate dental reccustructions syrerely affected the masticatory ability and caused the eating problems in both groups of patients. Prosthetic rehabilitation performed due to restaured properly occlusal contacts, impored dentures retention and stabilization and foundation tissues traumae preservation - contributed well to functional effectiveness and masticatory ability of patients.
