    Streszczenie angielskie: Investigation of prevalence of intestinal parasites in dogs have been conducted in order to protect human and animal health. The aim of the study was to estabilish species composition of intestinal parasites and to evaluate their prevalence in dogs from the shelter in Józefów situated on north from Warsaw. Additionally, urban dogs from Warsaw and village dogs from areas near the shelter, were examined. The prevalence of nematodes was: 62.3 p.c. in dogs from shelter, 37.5 p.c. in village dogs and 18.8 p.c. in urban dogs. In homeless dogs, the most common parasite was Uncinaria stenocephala, then Trichuris vulpis and Toxascaris leonina. In village dogs only eggs of U. stenocephala were detected; in urban dogs Toxocara canis and U. stenocephala were found.

    Streszczenie polskie: Badaniami dotyczącymi częstości zarażenia T. tenax objęto 50 pacjentów Instytutu Reumatologicznego, leczonych lekami immunosupresyjnymi i immunomodulującymi z powodu reumtoidalnego zapalenia stawów. Nie stwierdzono istotnych różnic w zarażeniu w porównaniu z osobami zdrowymi. U jednego pacjenta wykryto zarażenie zwierzęcym gatunkiem rzęsistka Tetratrichomonas canistomae. Wskazuje to na możliwość opanowywania organizmu człowieka, w warunkach immunosupresji, przez nowe dla niego pasożyty, które zwykle bywają bardziej patogenne.

    Streszczenie angielskie: Presented study assessed the prevalence of Trichomonas tenax in oral cavity of 50 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The results show no difference in prevalence of T. tenax in examined patients in comparison with control group. In one patient, who received steroid treatment for two years, Tetratrichomonas canistomae until now noted only in dog, was detected. The above results confirm the possibility of appearence of a new parasite-host system to arise in conditions of immunosuppression through new species of parasites, which frequently may be seriously pathogenic.
