    Streszczenie angielskie: The aim of the study was to evaluate the usefulness of the 3D ultrasound in the diagnostics of the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Primary diagnostics of HCC and other hepatic tumours is based on 2D sonography. The method allows the non-invasive evaluation of anatomical structures and tumour localisation. Interpretation difficulties emerge most often during assessment of tumour boundaries and its relation to the vessels. The study included 23 patients aged 35 to 73 treated for HCC in th eDepartment of General Surgery. In the livers of all the examined persons focal lesions were found. 3D sonography yielded more information about the changes due to imaging of multiplanar reconstructions in oblique presentations, which are impossible to obtain in classical 2D.
