    Streszczenie angielskie: The paper deals with the tendency of pharmacists to fully utilize their professional skills for active and responsible contribution to patient's health protection. To research this goal it is essential to shift one's interest from a drug to a patient. Pharmaceutical care is principally based on individual approach to pharmacotherapy and to monitoring the outcome of implemented therapeutical procedures. On the other hand, implementation of the pharmaceutical care principles to the entire health protection system is compatible with social expectations and tends to ensure efficient, safe and cost-effective pharmacotherapy.

    Streszczenie angielskie: The aim of the study was to determine the pharmaceutical availability of various ointment systems containing antirheumatic substances and to estabilish an optimal system for cutaneous application. Topical application permits elimination or at least reduction of side effects connected with oral administration. Three systems were evaluated: emulsion W/O (ointment), emulsion O/W (cream) and gel, all of them containing diclofenac sodium or indomethacin. The investigated systems are characterized by proper rheological parameters and long physiochemical stability. Studies on diclofenac and indomethacin pharmaceutical availability show a good release of the substances from cream and hydrogel bases, but a very poor release from the ointment base.

    Streszczenie polskie: Preparat Cepan przeznaczony jest do miejscowego leczenia blizn i bliznowców po oparzeniach i zabiegach chirurgicznych oraz do leczenia przykurczy. Powoduje uelastycznienie, spłaszczenie i blednięcie blizny. Wpływa na procesy biochemiczne powstającej tkanki łącznej oraz tworzenie i dojrzewanie blizny. Hamuje wzrost fibroblastów i keloidofibroblastów, oddziaływuje na strukturę kolagenu, ogranicza bujanie ziarniny i zapobiega tworzeniu się przerosłych blizn. Cepan okazał się preparatem skutecznym i dobrze tolerowanym przez skórę.

    Streszczenie angielskie: Cepan Cream is used for the topical treatment of scars and keloids resulting from burns, post-operative scars, and contrctures. Cepan Cream makes scars more elastic, softer and paler. Plant extracts, heparin and allantoin in Cepan act on the biochemical processes in the developing connective tissue, preventing the formation of hyperplastic scars. These active ingredientes enhance swelling, softening and loosening of connective tissue. It exerts softening and smoothing action on indurated and hyperplastic scar tisse, improving collagen structure. It promotes tissue regeneration and reduces exuberant granulation. Cepan is well tolerated.

    Streszczenie angielskie: New regulations issued on September 6, 2001 under Pharmaceutical Act have introduced significant changes to the Polish system of pharamaceutical legislation. There are many legal issues directed towards harmonization of the Act with the European Union regulations. In this paper requirements set for admission of drugs to the market and principles of both the retail and wholesale turnover have been addressed.
