    Streszczenie angielskie: Background: The objective of the study was to verify the hypothesis that the radiographic findings of the liver after thermoablation with high-frequency current are caused by the increase of the physical density of the tissue. Material/Methods: A phantom experiment was performed using the fresh porcine liver. The changes of the relative density, absolute density and volume of the denaturated liver were assessed, the thermoablation was performed under US control with following macroscopic assessment, CT and MR examinations. Results/Conclusions: The mean relative density was 1.127 g/cm**3 and 1.19 g/cm**3 before and after thermocoagulation, respectively. An increase of the relative density of 23 HU and reduction of the volume of mean 40 p.c. were observed. The reduction of the volume was caused mainly by the loss of water displaed during the retraction of the coagulated tissue. In the US and MR examinations the findings were found compatible with validated model of physical changes.
