    Streszczenie polskie: Badaniem socjomedycznym objęto 543 rodziców dzieci w wieku szkolnym (272 z miasta, 271 ze wsi). Zastsoowano celowy dobór badanych: rodziców dzieci z miasta (Lublin) charakteryzował wyższy, w porównaniu z rodzicami ze wsi (Wąwolnica), poziom wykształcenia i status materaialny. Kwestionariusz składał się z 25 pytań dotyczących profilaktyki i higieny jamy ustnej. Oceniano zaangażowanie rodziców w kształtowanie zachowań zdrowotnych dzieci. Na wsi przeważali respondenci z wykształceniem co najwyżej zawodowym, w mieście - z wykształceniem wyższym. Najczęściej na prawidłową higienę jamy ustnej zwracali uwagę dziecku rodzice z wykształceniem wyższym i średnim. Wraz ze wzrostem wykształcenia rodziców zwiększała się częstość szczotkowania zębów przez dzieci. Rodzice dzieci z miasta, lepiej sytuowani, z wyższym wykształceniem, ponad dziesięciokrotnie częściej posyłali swe dzieci do gabinetów pozaszkolnych niż ankietowani ze wsi. Na wsi było prawie dwa razy więcej niż w mieście dzieci kontrolujących stan uzębienia rzadziej niż co 6 miesięcy.     Streszczenie angielskie: Socio-medical studies covoered 543 parents of schoolchildren (272 from urban areas, 271 from urban areas, 271 from rural areas). Respondents were selected non-randomly. Parents of children form the city (Lublin) were better educated and had higher material status than those from the rural setting (Wąwolnica). The questionnaire consisted of 25 questions concerning prophylaxis and oral cavity hygiene. The involvement of parents in shaping health behaviour of their children was determined. Differences between educational level and material status of the respondents were statistically significant. In rural areas most areas most parents had an education level not higher than vocational school, whereas in urban areas parents with university education dominated. Respondents with university or secondary education most often encouraged their children to maintain oral cavity hygiene. The frequency of teeth brushing increased with te respondents' education level. Parents from urban areas, with a higher material status, used the dentist's surgery outside school ten times more frequently, compared to the rural parents. A group of children controlling their state of dentition less than every 6 months was almost twice as large in rural areas than that in urban ones. Children of parents with at most vocational education and a low material status visited the dentist usually in case of pain.
