Stęzenie badanych cytokin oznaczano metodą immunoenzymatyczną w moczu z pierwszej dziennej porcji i wyrażono w pg/ćmol kreatyniny.
The aim of work was the assessment of urine excretion of proinflammatory cytokines IL-6 and IL-8 and antyinflammaotry IL-13. The examinations were carried out in 19 children (group I) with APN, before antibacterial treatment and in 20 healthy children. The concentration of cytokines was examined by immunoenzymatic method in first morning portion and was expressed in pg/ćmol cr. Exretion of IL-6 was showed in 86 p.c., IL-8 - in 100 p.c. and IL-13 in 52 p.c. children with APN. In comparison with control group, the concentration of IL-8 in ill children increased 85 times, IL-6 3 times and the concentration of IL-13 was observed only in trace amounts. There was correlation between IL-6 and IL-8, but no correlation between both IL-6 and IL-8 and IL-13 was found. In urine of children with APN there was no correlation between both IL_6 and IL-8 and IL-13 was found. In urine of children with APN there was no correlation between excretion of proinflamatory ctyokine (IL-6, IL-8), and antyinflammatory IL-13.

Streszczenie angielskie:
Background: Impairment in the functions of the lower urinary tract can be the cause of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI) and vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) in children. The purpose of our research was to evalute the frequency of occurrence of bladder instability in children with UTI. Material/methods: The research involved 114 children (21 boys, 93 girls), ranging in age from 5 to 16. Group I consisted of 61 children with a history of recurrent UTI, while Gorup II included 53 children with recurrent UTI and VUR. Urodynamic tests (uroflowmetry and cystometry) were done on all the children, while in selected cases profilometry was also performed, using a Duet apparatus (Dantec Medical A/S). Results: Abonrmal functioning of the lower urinary tract was found in 45 children (74 p.c.) from Group I and 44 children (84 p.c.) grom Gorup II. The most common dysfunction was instability of the detrusor muscle, which was found in 52 children (45 p.c.), including 23 (38 p.c.) from Group I and 29 (55 p.c.) from Group II. In 19 children detrusor instability was accompanied by reduced bladder volume, and in 8 cases there as a lack of detrusor-sphincter coordination. In both groups ca. 20 p.c. of the children did not present with symptoms indicating urination dysfunctions. Ca. 80 p.c. reported various symptoms, of which the most common were nocturnal wetting and urinary urgency. In half of the children from Group I and one-fourth of the children from Group II there were several co-occurring symptoms; nocturnal and diurnal wetting, pollakiruria, and urinary urgency, or all three symptoms simultaneously. Conclusions: The most common disturbance of lower urinary tract functioning in these children with recurrent UTI was instaability of the detrusor muscle, which occurred more often in children with VUR.
