Streszczenie angielskie: Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a Gram-positive, acid-fastness bacterium causing tuberculosis in human. Tuberculosis is the most mortal human infectious disease. The treatment is long-lasting and complex. Isoniazid is one of the frontline antituberculous agents. The efficacy of short course chemotherapy is strictly conditioned by sensitivity tubercle bacillus for isoniazid. The article discusses molecular bases of isoniazid action in the tubercle bacillus cells and pathways for developing of isoniazed-resistance phenotype together with a characterization of the genes involved in this process. Presented information is very important for synthesis of the new antituberculous agents and for formation of new strategies of M. tuberculosis INH-resistance diagnostics. Furthermore, these information contributes to a better understanding of the molecular biology of this fascinating pathogen.
