    Streszczenie polskie: Wakcynologia stała się interdyscyplinarną dziedziną wiedzy, w której wykorzystuje się badania z zakresu epidemiologii, immunologii doświadczalnej i klinicznej, biologii molekularnej, biotechnologii i inżynierii genetycznej. Współczesna wakcynologia to nadal przede wszystkim immunoprofilaktyka, ale immunizacja organizmu przez podanie szczepionki przestała obecnie służyć wyłącznie do zwalczania chorób zakaźnych i infekcyjnych. Kierunki rozwoju współczesnej wakcynologii podporządkowane są jednemu zadaniu - opracowaniu szczepionki idealnej. Szczepionka ta wg kryteriów Edelmana musi być bezpieczna, efektywna w wzbudzaniu odporności, skuteczna w zapobieganiu chorobie i dostępna dla całej populacji świata. Wynikiem realizacji tego celu jest modyfikacja antygenów, zmiana adiuwantów i konserwantów, a także wdrażanie nowych technologii do produkcji szczepionek.

    Streszczenie angielskie: Vaccinology became interdisciplinary field of knowledge. It takes advantage of epidemiologi-cal and immunological researches and achievements of molecular biology, biotechnology and genetic engineering. Nowadays vaccinology remains mainly immunoprevention, but immunization of organism, as a result of vaccine injection, opens new possibilities in medicine. Directions of development present vaccinology are subordinated to one task - to invent an ideal vaccine. According to Edelman's criterions this vaccine has to be safe, effective in immunization, efficient in disease prevention and accessible for people all over the world. Realization of this aim causes modification of antigens, changes of adjuvant and preservatives and applying new technologies in production of vaccines.

    Streszczenie angielskie: Soy is one of a few plants in which complementary protein is present, containing 8 essential amino acids (tryptophan, phenylalanine, lysine, threonine, methionine, leucine, isoleucine, valine), which cannot be produced by the organism, but are indispensable for its proper functioning. Soy contains no cholesterol. It is a rich source of nutriceuticals, isoflavones, protease inhibitors, phytic acid, cellulose, which are capable of inactivation of carcinogens, stimulation of the immune system, and possess a number of properties which may be used in prevention of cardiovascular diseases and other civilization-related pathologies (atherosclerosis, neoplasms). The paper presents metabolism of isoflavones in the human organism, as well as the hypothese concerning molecular mechanisms of the effect of genistein, which is the most abundant isoflavoner occurring in soy. The most important effects of soy and its components on human organisms arealso discussed.
