    Streszczenie angielskie: The suitability of the Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) technique to determine of the elemental composition of human brain tissue samples and body fluids was investigated. The XRF was used in the study of pellet samples of white and grey matter of brains. A quantitative analysis of the specimens was performed using a method of fundamental parameters. The Total Refluction-X-ray Fluorescence (TXRF) method was applied to determine trace elements in the whole blood, blood serum and the cerebrospinal fluid. Two methods of sample preparation, i.e. without any sample preparation and that with digestion of sample with nitric acid were applied with respect to detection limits. For both methods gallium was used as an internal standard.
