The effect of external factors, such as: contents of stomach (quality and quantity), amount and composition of diet, temperature (of environment, body), activity and body posture, physical exercise (psychic stress), social drugs (coffee, ethanol), chronobiologic factors (day-night rhythm), climatic influence (weather conditions) on drugs bioavailability was presented.

    Streszczenie angielskie: Diabetes is not only clinical, but also economic problem. More and more economic evaluations of this disease are undertaken and much attention is devoted recently to this problem. Direct cost (pharmacy, hospitalisation, consultations) mostly derive from health care strategies that aim to reduce late complications of the condition and maintain day-to day quality of life. Therefore, it does not seem difficult to estimate pharmaceutical expenditures. The consumption of oral antihyperglycaemic prescription tendencies and shows the influence on costs, and provides indirect information about the quality of health care for patients with diabetes mellitus. Over the last few years, some developed countries have shown a progressive increase in pharmaceutical expenditure on diabetic care, whereas economically depressed countries have experienced a dramatic shortage of basic medicines such as insulin.

    Streszczenie angielskie: The majority of antiarrhytmic drugs have very narrow therapeutic range, and they may cause some side effects at doses used for curing cardiac arrhythmias. These drugs may enter different interactions. Procainamide also may interact with other drugs. Also some other drugs may change pharmacokinetics of procainamide, for example the iv anesthetics influence on pharmacokinetic parameters of procainamide. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of midazolam on the plasma concentrations and pharmacokinetic parameters of procainamide in rabbits during two hours of obserwation. Procainamide was administered in rabbits at a dose of 13 mg/kg iv, and midazolam at 0.2 mg/kg iv. Procainamide levels were determined by immunofluorescence polarization method using ABBOTT reagents. Levels of procainamide were determined in the plasma at 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 min after the administration of procainamide. After administration of midazolam with procainamide, a decrease in plasma concentration of procainamide, together with its increased elimination, was observed.

    Streszczenie angielskie: In this study we have analyzed changes of the aims and development structure of pharmaceutical inspection. In 1993-2000 the amount of pharmacies controlled by one inspector has increased considerably (51,8 - 92,0). The widest range of cases involved staff and drug problems has been observed in 1994. During analysis period about 72 p.c. of pharmacies have been controlled. 11,2 p.c. of all the controls included druggist's shops. 50 p.c. of skilled workers (courses in 1992-97) have resigned of the employement in pharmaceutical inspection.

    Streszczenie angielskie: Calcium channel blockers can get involved in pharmacological interactions when used concomitantly with other drugs. Previous reports indicate a differential influence of various general anesthetics on verapamil pharmacokinetics. A tendency of a faster transfer of verapamil from the central compartment to the tissue compartment was found to be associated with a slower drug return from the tissue at the given verapamil doses during thiopental or propofol anesthesia. Thus, an increased storage of verapamil in tissue compartment and prolongation of the drug action may occur due to those interactions. The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of midazolam on the plasma concentrations and pharmacokinetic parameters of verapamil after intravenous bolus administration in rabbits during 2 h of observation. Verapamil and midazolam were administered intrtavenously at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg. Verapamil levels in plasma were determined by radioanalysis using [3H]verapamil. Levels of verapamil were determined in plasma at 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 90 and 120 min after the administration, and plasma disappearance was analyzed according to the non-compartmental and 2-compartmental model. After administration of midzaolam together with verapamil, a decrease in verapamil concentration in plasma was seen, with an increased verapamil transfer to the tissue compartment, increased steady state distribution volume and shortened residency time of the drug in the plasma.

    Streszczenie angielskie: This paper presents the results of the comparative studies concerning the functionality and the usage cost of the infusion solution preparation in two types of packages. The study group was 1000 units of the preparations in the Medipur type polyethylene packages with the Eurocaps lock. The control group was the type and amount analogous infusion solution preparations in the polyethylene standard packages in a cylinder shape. The solution loss significantly more frequent in the control group comparing the study one was reported. Furthermore, this finding follows the real increase of the involved units cost. THe conducted comparative analysis shows that the undertaking of the optiamal bidding decisions should be based on the pharmacoeconomic analysis made by hospital pharmacists because of their contribution to the reasonable spending of our financial resources.

    Streszczenie angielskie: Bioavailability of nicergoline from NILOGRIN ("Polfa" Pabianice) was compared with the bioavailability of the drugs from SERMION ("Pharmacia") in 18 healthy volunteers in cross-over, randomized design. Serum concentration of nicergoline were measured by means of HPLC. Our results indicate that bioavailability of nicergoline from NILOGRIN and from SERMION do not differ significantly.

    Streszczenie angielskie: In this study we have analyzed the changes of the access to pharmaceutical services since 1989 till 2000. In this period the number of pharmacies has increased over 150 p.c. The number of people using services of the pharmacy has reduced. Pharmacies of private owners constituted 94 p.c. of all pharmacies in Poland in 2000 and village pharmacies constituted 20 p.c. of the whole. In 2000 there were more type "A" pharmacies (71 p.c.) than type "B" pharmacies. The dispensaries constituted only 6 p.c. of all pharmacies in Poland.
