Streszczenie angielskie:
The prewsence of PACAP and VIP was demonstrated in all the four levels of the photoneuroendocrine system (PNES) with the use of immunohistochemistry (IHC), radioimmunoassay (RIA), anterograde and reterograde tracing techniques, and cell immunoblot assay (CIBA). Both peptides paly a physiological role in the PNES. According to our results both PACAP and VIP are involved in the regulation of the gonadotrop hormone secretion and their inhibitory role may be mediated through the neuronal chain of the PNES. Abbreviations: CIBA - cell immunoblot assay, CRF - corticotrop hormone-releasing hormone, FG - fluorogold, FSH - follicle stimulating hormone, GRP - gastrin releasing peptide, HRP - horse-radish peroxidase, icv - intracerebroventricular, IHC - immunohistochemistry, iv - intraveous, LH - luteinizing hormone, LHRH - luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone, ME - median eminence, MSG - monosodium glutamate, PACAP - pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide, PhA-L - Phaseolus Vulgaris Leucoagglutinin, PHI - peptide histidine isoleucine, PNES - photoeuroendocrine system, PVN - paravetricular nucleus, RIA - radioimmunoassay, sc - subcutaneous, SCN suprachiasmatic nucleus, SON - supraoptic nucleus, VIP - vasoactive intestinal polypeptide.

Streszczenie angielskie:
Background: Allergic granulomatosis, otherwise called Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a rare type of allergic angitis and granulomatosis, whcih manifests in patients with bronchial asthma. The diseases belongs to the group of eosinophil pneumonias so there is a maekedly high eosinophil granulocyte count in the peripheral blood (20 - 40 p.c.). Systemic involvement is frequent and its prognosis is usually either satisfying or bad. Case Report: We report a case of a female patient with bronchial asthma, whose Churg-Strauss syndrome was manifested after the elimination of systemic corticosteroid therapy and introduction of estrogens (hormone replacement therapy - HRT) due to her progressing osteoporosis. The diagnosis of the disease was confirmed when her newly developed symptoms satisfied the ciriteria for classification of CSS by the American College of Rheumatology, as well as teh Chapel Hill Consensus Conference definition for CSS. Conclusions: This observation may bear great relevance since this combination of therapy could have triggered the onset of the life-threatening Churg-Strauss syndrome in our asthamtic patients. Previous data suggest that the withdrawal of steroid therapy triggers CSS. We should take into account the same risks when administering HRT to asthamtic patients with steroid-induced osteoporosis.
