Streszczenie angielskie:
In half-body (HBI) and total-body (TBI) irradiation techniques large fields and large source-to-skin distances (SSD) are required. The method of Tissue Phantom Ratio (TPR) measured at the isocentre can then used for calculating the dose and the required number of monitor units. However, at source-to-skin distances well exceeding 100 cm, modification of the algorithm and suitable extrapolation of data are required. We propose a modification of the TPR-based algorithm which can lead to reliable dose calculations for the HBI and TBI techniques. The extension of the TPR algorithm is based on the well-known principle of separating the total scatter factor, Scp, into collimator-scatter, Sc, and phantom-scatter, Sp, components. The algorithm proposed by us was experimentally verified for several field sizes and over a wide range of distances. At reference depth the difference between the measureds at the calculated dose values does not exceed 1 p.c.

Streszczenie angielskie:
The effects of irradiation on concentrations and relaxation behaviour of brain metabolites was studied by means of high-resolution 1H NMR in vitro. The model studies were performed on rat brains irradiation with the doses of 20 Gy applied in fractions. Standard procedures were used to obtain HCIO4 extracts of rat brains. The 1H NMR studies of the extracts solutions in D20 were performed using a Varian Inova-300 NMR spectrometr. The integral intensities of metabolite signals were found to change during the irradiation cycle and after it. These changes are accompanied by the variations in the T1 relaxation times. The results of the in vivo study were compared with those of 1H MR in vivo on the early response to treatment of the irradiated human brain tissue.
