    Streszczenie angielskie: The study examined the prevalence of traumatic events and posttraumatic symptomatology (PTSD, depression and anxiety symptoms) in a sample of 60 alcohol dependet women. The data revealed that 98.3 p.c. of 60 alcohol dependent individuals reported that they has experienced at least one traumatic "it happened to me" event. Highest rates of exposure in their lifetime were reported for "physiological assaault", "sudden unexpected death of some close, "life-theatening illness" and "sexual assault". Prevalence of traumatic exposure before dependence and since dependence was also examined with the data showing a high prevalence of physical and sexual assault. There were two subgroups with a different length of treatment. The data showed that the intensity of both anxiety and depressive symptoms wee significantly lower in the subgroup undergoing longer treatment. That differencxe did not occur for the intensity of PTSD symptoms.
