Streszczenie angielskie: According to epidemiological studies, it is possible that some secondary metabolites of indoor airborne fungi could be responsible for health troubles which occupants sufer from. In our previous experiments, a model with tracheal rings of 1-day-old chicks in vitro was shown to be a very suitable method to study the ciliostatic chloroform-extractable endo- end/or exometabolites of filamentous fungi. In this study we isolated the filamentous fungi from walls of "moudy" dwellings and schools (cultivation on dichloran 18 p.c. glycaerol agar at 25 and 37řC for 10 d) in Slovakia. We studied the ciliostatic effect of the chloroform-extractable endo- and exometabolites of 96 representative isolates (Stationary cultivation on the liquid medium with 2 p.c. of yeast extract and 10 p.c. of sucrose at 25řC for 10 days) on the cilia movement in tracheal organ cultures of 1-day-old chickens in vitro after 24, 48 and 72 hrs (incubation in the minimal essential medium according to Eagle with Earl's salts and 20 ćg of extract of metabolites dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide per 1 mL). Strains of Penicillium Link: Fr. sp., Aspregillus versicolor (Vuill.). Tiraboschi, A. flavus Link, Cladosporium sphaerospermum Penzig adn C. cladosporioides (Fres.) de Vries were isolated most frequently. Two A. flavus isolates were able to produce aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, G2 in vitro after cultivation on the liquid medium with 20 p.c. sucrose and 2 p.c. yeast extract. This is the first isolation of aflatoxigenic A. flavus strains from dwellings in Slovakia. All frequently isolated strainsproduced secondary metabolites...

Streszczenie angielskie: Objectives: To compare sensitivity of plant cell bioindication assay with human cell screening method on the example of heavy polluted area around papermill plant. Design: Two-year screening of bioindication effect at cytogenitc level of plant as well as human cells by regular sampling from three sites near the source of pollution and one control site. Setting: City Rużomberok is one of 12 air polluted areas in Slovakia, that according the Ministry of the Environment's of Slovak Republic needs special air protection. And this aim, consequently, needs serious screening of the impact of emission produced on living cells. Main outcome measure: Frequency of aborted/altered pollen grains and chromosomal aberations in peripheral lymphocytes in blood samples of children living in neighbourhoods of papermill plant. Results: From the 12 plant species analysed, significant difference from the control samples were found in frequency and occurrence of abortive an danomalous microspores and pollen grains among 9 species in year 1999 and 8 species in year 2000. They were: Pinus sylvestris L., Robinia pseudoacacia L., Corylus avellana L., Linaria vulgaris Mill., Melilotus albus Medik., Trifolium pratense L., Calystegia sepium R.Br., Chelidonium majus L., Cichorium intybus L. In the Pinus sylvestris L. samples we observed an increased amount of anomalous (unreducted, 2n, 4n) pollen grains, which represent mutagenity at the genome level. Spontaneous level of chromosomal aberrations in peripheral lymphocytes of children ...
