Streszczenie angielskie: Purpose: To evaluate changes of serum antiretinal antibodies titres (ARA) in patients with idiopathic posterior uveitis in 12 months follow-up perod. Material and methods: 50 patients (29 women and 21 men) in age 15 - 70 yrs with endogenous posterior uveitis were examined. In all cases serum ARA titres were determined by indirect immunofluorescence test on normal monkey retina as a substrate and FITC-labelled anti-human IgA, IgG, IgM serum (Euroimmun - Niemcy). ARA were scored in active stage of the disease and 1, 3, 6, 12 months after the immunosuppressive therapy was started. Results: Before treatment in active stage of the disease, the ARA were present in serum of 40 patients (80 p.c.). The range of serum ARA titres was 1 : 10 to 1 : 320. In 10 patients (20 p.c.) the serum ARA levels were not detectable. In the last control the ARA in serum of 80 p.c. patients with active endogenous posterior uveitis indicates their involvement in the etiopathogenesis of this disease. 2. The assessment of serum ARA in patients with idiopathic posterior can act as an indicator of immnosuppressive therapy efficacy. 3. Serum ARA analysis is not a specific diagnostic test for endogenous posterior uveitis because ARA can be present in serum of patients with other ocular disorders.

Streszczenie angielskie: Purpose: To analyse the correlation between the antiretinal antibodies (ARA) and intensity of intraocualr inflammation in patients with endognous posterior uveitis. Material and methods: 50 patients - 29 women (58 p.c.) and 21 men (42 p.c.) in ag 17-70 yrs with idiopathic posterior uveitis were examined. Intraocular inflammation intensity was scored on standard uveitis grading system prepared by BenEzra et al. In all cases the ARA were determined by indirect immunoluforescence test on normal monkey retina as a substrate and FITC -labelled goat's anti-human IgA, G, M serum (Euroimmun-Germany. The control serum was obtained from 50 blood donors: 20 women (40 p.c.) and 30 men (60 p.c. in age 15 - 68 yrs. Results: The statistical analysis showed a correlation between the ARA serum levels and intraocular inflammation intensity. High statistical analysis showed a correlation between the ARA serum levels and intraocular inflammation intensity. High correlation was found in first control between serum ARA level and the degree of vitreous inflammation and the presence of fresh vessels sheathing, characteristic for retinal vasculitis. In next three controls, this correlation was still present, but only in a case of vitreous changes. And at the end of observation no correlation was found, neither between serum ARA levels and the activity of vitreous inflammation, nor between the ARA levels and retinal vasculitis intensity. Conclusions: The assessment of serum ARA in patients with idiopathic posterior uveitis can act as an indicator for intraocular inflammation intensity and can reflect the retinal autoimmunity.

Streszczenie angielskie: To evaluate indocyanine green (ICG) angiography in the diagnosis of small choroidal tumours. Methods: We studied 40 patients with small chorodial tumours, 22 males and 18 females. The tumour thickness on ultrasonography ranged from 2.2 to 4.3 mm. Results: Nineteen pigmented tumours showed early and late diffuse hypofluorescence, consistent with naevi. Eight non-pigmented tumours showed normal choroidal vessels in calibre, configuraiton, and branching, typical of non-pigmented naevi. The early frame of ICG angiography showed in 13 cases pathological, intrinsic vascularization, suggestive of melanomas. Conclusion: This preliminary study suggests that ICG angiography may be helpful in differentiating choroidal naevi from small melanomas.
