    Streszczenie angielskie: Own experience in surgical treatment of 171 patients with upper eyelid ptosis is presented. Congenital eyelid ptosis was diagnosed in 153 patients, unilaterally in 118 and bilaterally in 35 cases. In 91 patients upper eyelid ptosis was an isolated deformity, whereas in 62 it was concomitant with other lesions of visual system. Acquired unilateral eyelid ptosis was diagnosed in 18 patients. The treatment was always planned together with an ophthalmologist. 106 patients were operated according to Berke method in own modification, in 49 cases suspension of the upper eyelid from the frontal muscle on autogenous temporal fascia strips in 37 patients and in 12 on fascia lata strips, were performed. In 16 patients with Marcus Gunn jaw-winking phenomenon Neuhaus operation was performed. The results of treatment were evaluated separately in the group of patients with congenital and aquired ptosis, on the basis of ophthalmological and clinical examination, performed after 3, 6 and 12 months following the surgery.
