Streszczenie angielskie: The aim of our study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of single photon emission computer tompgraphy (SPECT) in combination with planar radioimmune and methylene-diphosphonate (MDP) - scintigraphic imaging of diabetic foot infection. The study group comprised 32 patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. All patients had diabetic foot ulceration with possible infection. All patients underwent clinical, bacteriological, X-ray and radioisotopic examination. Biochemical and instrumental investigation was carried out to estimate the degree of glycaemic control and available chronic diabetic complications. X-ray examination included radiographs centered on the foot lesion. All patients underwent bone scintigraphy with 370 MBq Technetium-99m-MDP (Tc-99m-MDP) three hours after injection in 3 projections (AP; LAO; RAO). Radioimmune planar imaging was performed by immunoscintigraphy with Tc-99m conjugated with monoclonal antigranulocyte antibody (MAB) BW 250/183. Immunoscintigraphy was performed 4 and 24 hours after administration of 740 MBq Tc-99m-MAB BW 250/183. In positive planar immunoscintigraphic cases and necessity of precise localization of inflammatory process - single photon emission computer tomography was performed. Final diagnosis - osteomyelitis was verified by bacteriological cultures and a long term follow up. Twenty two true positive cases, eight true negative cases, one false positive case, one false negative case were established. The sensitivity of the applied method for detection of osteomyelitis was 94 p.c., specificity 92 p.c., diagnostic accracy 93 p.c...
