    Streszczenie angielskie: Purpose: To compare the results of implantation of scleral-fixated posterior chamber intraocular lenses and angle-supported anterior chamber intraocular lenses (IOLs). Material and methods: This study of 98 eyes of 98 patients comprised two groups. In group A (n = 48), a scleral-fixated posterior chamber IOL was implanted and group B (n = 50) an angle supported anterior chamber IOL. Follow-up was from 1 to 5 years (mean - 3 years). Results: After surgery, in group A, we achieved very good visual acuity (0.9 - 1.0) significantly frequent (p 0,003) than in group B (gr. A - 56 p.c., gr. B - 24 p.c.). Postoperative astigmatism was significantly higher in group B (p 0,0004). In the same group, the rate of complications was also higher (gr. B -83 p.c., gr. A - 71 p.c.). Conclusions: Scleral-fixated IOLs offers better visual outcome and low rate of complications than angle-supported IOLs. Anterior chamber IOL implantation should be performed only in very old patients with good endothelial cell counts.

    Streszczenie angielskie: Purpose: The aim of this research was to evaluate the changes of blood flow velocity in ocular arteries (ophtalmic artery, central retinal artery and short postesrior ciliary arteries) and the amount of ocular nerve fibers in patients with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and normal tension glaucoma (NTG). Material and method: The research was done on 17 patients with diagnosed POAG and 13 patients with NTG. No ocular surgery was performed on any of these patients prior to our examinations. The blood flow measurements were made with ACUSON Color Doppler USG 128*P10 type with 7.5 Mz sector phased probe. Parameters of diastolic velocity (Vr), systolic flow velocity (Vs), Golsing pulsation index (PI) and pourcelate resistivity index (RI) were registered, together with the instant spectrography of examined artery. Quantiative retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) measurements were obtained by scanning laser polarimetry GDx (software version 1.0.14), RNFL was measured automatically in each of 256 x 256 pixels and results were compared to the age-, sex- and race- norms. Approcimately 150 wide field of view was used. Average thickness, Superior Maximum, Inferior Maximum, maximum modulation and GDx Number were analysed. All results were compared to age norms. Student's t test was sued for statistical analysis. Results: In patients with POAG a statistically significant decrease of VS in ophtalmic artery was detected in 27 p.c. of eyes, in central retinal artery in 51 p.c. of eyes and in short postserior ciliary arteries in 45 p.c. of eyes.
