Streszczenie angielskie:
Saliva, breath, and blood samples were collected from 49 volunteers and over 700 values of ethanol concentration were obtained. The profiles of time-dependent changes in saliva and expired air-breath ethanol concentration were similar. The average difference between the respective values determined in blood and saliva amounted to -0.031 ń 0.096 g/l, whereas the difference between the results for breath and saliva was -0.034 ń 0.080 g/l. These differences in ethanol concentrations do not exceed those which occur between blood and breath (0.003 ń 0.093 g/l). Introducing a correction value of 1.08, stemming from the varying water content in saliva and blood, results in a good agreement between the results for saliva and breath (0.005 ń 0.077 g/l). The headspace gas chromatgraphic method applied for ethanol determination in saliva is specific (resolution 1), shows good accuracy (recovery = 100.7 p.c.) and precision (SD = 0.0155 g/l). There is no matrix effect when water solutions are used for calibration instead of saliva.

Streszczenie angielskie:
Two main histotypes of thyroid carcinoma - papillary carcinoma and follicular carcinoma - derive from the same cell type but exhibit different routes of molecular development. In papillary carcinoma, receptor kinase encoding protooncogenes RET or TRK play main role in the initiation of tumorigenesis. Their rearrangements have been found in circa 25 p.c. and 10 p.c. of tumors respectively. The initiating event in the remaning part of papillary cancers remains unknown. Some of RET negative cancers may develop towards anaplastic carcinoma, as RET rearrangements have never been observed in this type of cancer. Follicular carcinomas develop from follicular adenomas. RAS mutations are found in a substantial part of benign and malignant follicular tumors, more frequently in iodine-deficient areas. The molecular event criucial for the transition from adenoma to carcinoma remains a matter of debate. Recently a PAX8-PPARç1 rearranggement has been proposed to be essential for this step of tumorigenesis. Finally, loss of TP53 is a common feature of undifferentiated thyroid cancers, responsible for their aggressive phenotype. RET rearrangements are very frequent in thyroid cancers observed in contaminated areas of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia after Chernobyl fall out. It is not clear, whether they are molecular fingerprints of radiation or are signs of an early onset of cancer. The prognosis significance of RET-positivity is also unspecified. RET mutations have been reported with higgher frequency in more advanced cancer, on the other side, RET-positive cancers probably do not proceed towards undifferentiated carcinoma.

Streszczenie polskie:
Autorzy przedstawili opis przypadku złamania kości skokowej z przemieszczeniem odłamów u 10-letniego chłopca. Zastosowano ręczne nastawienie odłamów i ich stabilizację drutami Kirschnera. Kontrolne badania obrazowe wykazały prawidłowy zrost kostny.
Streszczenie angielskie:
The authors presented a case of a ten-year-old boy with dislocated fracture of the talus. Fragments of the bone were manually reduced and stabilized with Kirschner wires. Control x-rays, CT and MRI revealed correct union of fractured bone.
