Streszczenie angielskie: Purpose: To determine factors, which have influence on presence of strabismus among myopic patients with amblyopia, aged 6 - 15. All children presented have a different amount of anisometropia, 12 of theem had strabismus. Authors, compared the group of patients with amblyopia and strabismus (12) with the group of patients with pure anisometropic amblyopia (9), accoridng to the following criteria: age of presentation, best corrected visual acuity, mean refraction error of amblyopic eye, mean amount of anisometropia, percentage of patients with central fixation and binocualr vision. Results: Patients with strabismus presented oneself earlier than patients without squint. Best corrected visual acuity was better in patients without strabismus. Refraction error in both groups has similar value. Amount of anisometropia was slightly smaller in the group with squint. Central fixation and cinocular vision wre better preserved among patients without strabismus. Authors didn't find the following correlations too: correlation between amount of anisometropia and amount of amblopia in both groups, correlation between amount of anisometropia and the amount of the deviation of squinting eye, correaltion between depth of amblyopia and the amount of deviation of the squinting eye. Conclusion: It seems, that primary factor leading to presence of straismus among patients with anisometropic myopia is motor dysfunction of extraocular muscles.

Streszczenie angielskie: The aim of the study were the measurements and calculations of the phantom image quality, the average glandular dose and the overal number of examinations as a measure of evaluation of a mammography facility. The image quality estimation was based on the evaluation of the images of a phantom designed for accreditation purposes by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The following parameters were assessed: the number of visible phantom structures, the contrast between the acrylic ring in the phantom and its surrounding, the phantom background level and the number of visible artefacts. The mean phantom doses were measured with a Diados dosimeter (PTW). The measurements of individual patients doses were made using the same methods and definitions as those used for mean phantom dose determinations, but related to parameters of the examination of an individual patient. The overall number of examinations performed on a mammography unit was used for the evaluation of a mammography facility in Poland. The data induced the number of examinations in Poland in 1997, and those in Warsaw in 1997-1999. This study is based on protocols of the quality control (published in the Mammography Quality Manual (ACR) for 37 mammography units. The image quality in a large majority of cases exceeded the tolerance limit (only 4 of 37 met the necessary requirements). In all mammographs tested, the values of the mean phantom doses (3 mGy) were lower than this value. Individual dose distributions can be a measure of controlling the conditions under which mammography examinations are performed, pointing...
