Streszczenie angielskie:
The damaging influence of hypoxia on the cerebellum in immature rats, which is still discussed, was investigated. Using material obtained in a modified Levine model for combined hypoxic-ischemic damage in 7-day-old rats, we examined changes in cerebellum submitted to hypoxia only. The results demonstrated classic features of hypoxic nervous tissue damage and calcium accumulation in mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum. This was investigated using electron microscopy combined with the oxalate-pyroantimonate method. We propose that Caý+ increases in endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondrial Caý+ pools may be involved in damage-mediated mechanisms. These results support a role of calcium as a mechanism of cerebellar cell loss after this form of injury.

Streszczenie angielskie:
This case report presents severe malformations of the central nervous system as a result of a pathological process occurring very early during development. Abnormal maturation and migration of neuroblasts were seen in all cerebral structures. Such changes are most often genetically determined, but in our case the analysis of their aetiology was not available.

Streszczenie polskie:
W przeglądzie niniejszym przedstawiono zespoły zmian niedokrwienno niedotlenieniowych oraz wybranych zakażeń ośrodkowego układu nerwowego występujących w okresie przed- i okołoporodowym i stanowiących przyczynę zaburzeń neurologicznych. Omówiono m.in. krwotoki około- i dokomorowe, uszkodzenie struktur pnia mózgu, zmiany o typie jamistej wieloogniskowej encefalopatii i zmiany w korze mózgu. Wśród zakażeń uwzględniono toksoplazmozę, zakażenia bakteryjne i wirusowe.
In a short review anoxic-ischemic changes and several infectious occurring of the central nervous system pre- and perinataly and inducing neurological syndroms were presented. Peri- and intraventricular hemorrhages, lesions and brain stem structures, cystic multifocal encephalopathy and cortical damage were among others described. Toxoplasmosis, bacterial and viral infections were also analysed. The presented observations allow to underline, that despite of the characteristic reaction on different damaging factors at this developmental stage in the CNS already existing, the tendency to necrotic changes often localized in periventricular white matter may be observed.

Streszczenie angielskie:
We present a case of rare, severe brain malformations. In a microcephalic premature newborn only a small structure found in the base of the cranium corresponded to the prosencephalic part of the brain. The basal ganglia were lacking and the cortico-subcortical area changed into empty vesicles with only small fragments of cortical stripe. This picture authorises us to speak on the probably complex pathomechanism of anomalies: genetically caused malformations including underdevelopment of telencephalic nuclei and additional occurrence of extrinsic lesions leading to pseudo-aprosencephaly formation.
