Streszczenie angielskie: Background. Fibrinogen (Fb), von Willebrand factor (vWF) and other haemostatic factors play an important role in the ethipatogenesis of ischaemic heart disease (IHD). Elevated serum concentration of these factors may identify subjects with an increased risk of IHD, particularly those with a positive family history and the presence of other standard cardiovascular risk factors. Aim. To assess the Fb and vWF levels and their relation to lipid profile and blood pressure in offspring of fathers who had a premature myocardial infarction (MI). Methods. The study group consisted of 50 fathers, aged 40-55 years, who had a history of MI, and their 86 children (52 sons and 34 daughters), aged 9-21 years (IHD group). The group of fathers divided into normofibrinogenic (subgroup A) and hyperfibrinogenic (subgroup B) subjects. The control gorup comprised 16 healthy males and their 22 children (10 sons and 12 daughters) with ages coparable to that of the IHD group. The Fb and vWF serum levels were measured in all subjects. Results. The Fb and vWF levels were significantly higher in the sons of fathers from subgroup B than in controls, the sons included in subgroup A or daughters from all of the analysed gorups. No differences in the Fb or vWF levels were found between female offspring from both IHD subgroups versus controls. Both male and female offspring from the IHD group had an atherogenic lipid profile and significantly higher systolic and diastolic blood pressure values than controls. A significant positive correlation for the total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol and diastolic...
