    Streszczenie angielskie: Betulin is a pentacyclic triterpenoid that is widespread in nature, especially in the outer bark of white birches. The compound and its derivatives show several biological activities. The most promising are: highly selective cytotoxity against melanoma, glioma and neuroblastoma cell lines, antiviral (tested on HIV), antiinflammatory and antiallergic properties. The review of the current literature on the subject is presented with the respect of the syntheses os some important betulin derivatives that are known for a time.
