Streszczenie angielskie: Before the discovery of activated protein C resistance (APCR), nearly 40 percent of all cases of venous thromboembolism were classified as idiopathic. More than 90 percent of the cases of activated protein C resistance are caused by the factor V Leiden mutation. Mutated factor V is resistant to proteolytic inactivation by activated protein C and retains its procoagulant activity and thus predisposes to thrombosis. Recent studies have also pointed to evidence of an association between factor V Leiden mutation and pregnancy complications such as: hypertensive disorders, first and second trimester miscarriage, placental infarction and placental abruption. The aim of this article is to present pregnancy and delivery in a 23-year-old patient with diagnosed factor V Leiden mutation and thrombophlebitis in medical history.
