Streszczenie angielskie:
Urinary tract infection (UTIs) are a significant health problem and Escherichia coli been expected to be the primary pathogen in approximately up 80 p.c. of cases. UTIs are commonly treated with antibiotics and, therefore, are a potential source for the emergence and/or selection of resistant bacteria. A number of antibiotics are now available for clinical use. Whether these compounds are equally effective and thus interchangeable in the treatment of urinary tract infection (UTI) has to be anserwed by comparing their antimicrobial activity against uropathogens. The purpose of the present study was the antimicrobial activity estimation of 6 antibiotics (ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, cotrimoxazole, norfloxacin, nalidix acid and ampicilin) against 200 recent microorganism isolated from urine of ambultory patients. Minimum inhibitory concentrations were assessed using the agar dilution and E-test method. The majority of isolates were sensitive to ciprofloxacin (93,5 p.c.) and ofloxacin (86,5 p.c.). Relatively low activity was observed for cotrimoxazole (79,5 p.c.), norfloxacin (77,5 p.c.), nalidixie acid (74 p.c.) and ampicilin (59,5 p.c.). Ciprofloxacin was found to be the most active among antibiotics examined (against Klebsiella and P. mirabilis - 100 p.c., Escherichia coli - 96,49 p.c., S. agalactiae - 66,66 p.c. and E. faecalis 54,54 p.c. susceptibility, respectively).
