    Streszczenie angielskie: Background. One of the factors influencing the quality of life after myocardial infarction (MI) is sexual activity. Unfortunately, this issue is often neglected due to other important aspects of patients' medical treatment or rehabilitation after MI. Aim. To analyse the problems of the sexual life of men after MI. METHODS An anonymous survey concerning pre- and post-MI sexual behaviour was conducted in a group of 54 men aged below 59 years (mean age 52.4 ń 6.4 years), 5-7 months after MI. Results. Marked differences in sexual life following MI were observed: (1) 39 (72.2 p.c.) patietns reported having sexual contact less frequently than before MI; (2) erectile dysfnction was reported by 17 (31.5 p.c.) patients; (3) the frequency of sexual intercourse was estimated to be once a day by one (1.9 p.c.) patient, 2-3 times a week - by 12 (22.2 p.c.) patietns, several times a month - by 40 (74.2 p.c.) patients and no sexual intercourse - by 2 (3.7 p.c.) patients ; (4) 18 (33.3 p.c.) patietns had a problem with erection at least once after MI, 16 (29.6 p.c.) observed a decrease in sexual interest, 17 (31.5 p.c.) were afraid of having sexual contact because they found it too strenuous whereas 10 (18.5 p.c.) patients did not ovserve any changes compared to their sexual life before MI; (5) 88.8 p.c. of patients agreed that "patients after MI shouldn't take sildenafil (Viagra)"; (6) 20 (37 p.c.) patients stated that 'unfortunately no doctor had discussed sexual problems with them after MI", 17 (31.5 p.c.) - that "fortunately no doctor had discussed this problem", and 17 (31.5 p.c.) stated that they had talked about it with their doctors before...
