Streszczenie angielskie: The compensating filters used in radiotherapy modify dose distribution in the entire field of the radiation beam, no matter what is the shape of the surface of the body. The determination of the shape of the compensator in a given clinical siluation calls for the use of advanced software tools. Modern treatment planning systems provide necessary modules needed to calculate the shapes of the compensation filters. Reliable use of these systems requires verification of such calculations. In this study, in order to evaluate the accuracy of the calculations, the dose distributions for Co-60 beams modified by the compensators, calculated by the computer system TMS-Helax were verified by comparing them with the measured dose distributions.

Streszczenie angielskie: The accuracy of the dosimetry of narrow phaton beams is very important for precise stereotactic radiosurgery. At the Centre of Oncology in Warsw the stereotactic radiosurgery treatments are performed with the moving beam multi-arc technique using narrow circular collimators of various sizes. In this study, the results of measurements of depth doses, beam profiles and beam outputs with small ionization chambers, diamond detectors and films are presented along with the evaluation of the adequacy of dosimetric systems most suited for such measurements.

Streszczenie angielskie: The aim of this study was to evaluate physical parametes of a Siemens Somaton DRH computed tomography unit used for radiotherapy treatment planing. Three groups of measurements were performed: control of the image geometry, dose absorbed by the patients, and estimation of the function relating CT numbers to tissue electron density. It was found that for properly performed examination, doses absorbed by patients do not exceed reference dose values published in the European Commision guideliness. Additional reference levels could be established for non-diagnostic examinations performed only before radiotherapy treatment planing (breast tomography). Function relating CT numbers to issue electron density determined for the Siemens Somatom DRH does not differ significantly from that used in the Cadplan treatment planing system in the soft tissue range. Beam hardening artefacts and changes in image slice width are the main causes of variations in CT numbers. Inaccuracies of dose distribution calculations due to the observed inaccuuracies were also estimated.
