    Streszczenie angielskie: Paraffin-embedded specimens of primary cervical carcinomata and their nodal metastases were obtained from eight patients. They were analyzed for the presence of human pappilomavirus (HPV) type 16 using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). HPV DNA was detected in seven of the eight patients and was present in both primary and metastatic tumours in five of these seven cases. These results suggest that HPV 16 does not continue to confer and selective advantage on the meatastaic cells which carry it.
